Baby Mezuzot - Jonah and the Whale Dark Blue Opalscent

Baby Mezuzot - Jonah and the Whale Dark Blue Opalscent

$68.96

Children love the story of Jonah and the whale depicted in this sandblasted mezuzah. The story centers on a conflict between Jonah and God. Jonah flees to Joppa and boards a ship bound for Tarshish. God calls up a great storm at sea and the ship's crew casts Jonah overboard in an attempt to appease God. A great sea creature (the Bible says it is a fish but retellings for children conventionally assume it to be a whale) sent by God swallows Jonah. For three days and three nights Jonah languishes inside the fish's belly. He says a prayer in which he repents for his disobedience and calls upon God for mercy. God speaks to the fish, which vomits out Jonah safely on dry land. After his rescue, God forgives Jonah. The mezuzah case for Jonah and the whale comes with nails and a printed scroll or klaf, ready to be placed on the doorpost of a Jewish home. The scroll contains the words of two passages from Deuteronomy, 11:13 and 6:4-9. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 has the words of the "Shema Israel" in which God commands Jews to keep God's words constantly in their minds and in their hearts. Scroll opening - 7mm Plexiglass case 1 1/4 x 6"
